Opportunity - Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries

Picture

Do you enjoy working with children & youth?

Like to be outside?

Love the Lord?

Then consider a summer as a counselor

at Lutheridge+Lutherock Ministries!!

LOCATIONS – Lutheridge Camp is located outside Asheville, NC in Southern Applachian Mountains and the Pisgah National Forest. Camp Lutherock is located in Newland, NC (30 min from Boone) at a higher elevation in the Grandfather Mountain.

DATES – The Summer Staff experience is 10 ½ weeks beginning with orientation (May 23) and ending after
9 camp weeks on August 5.  Staff may have a week off for family vacations, etc..

LUTHERIDGE PROGRAM – Lutheridge has campers from 1st grade through 12th grade.  Campers arrive on Sunday and leave on Saturday.  The program is designed to have campers grow in faith, experience Christian community and enjoy God’s creation.  Camp activities include low ropes, climbing tower, crafts, pool, recreational games, and outings in Pisgah National Forest.  In addition to the on-site program, Lutheridge counselors also lead daycamps each week.  Lutheridge has 65 counselors and 18 senior staff (leadership team).

LUTHEROCK PROGRAM – The Lutherock program has the same purpose as the Lutheridge program.  In addition, it has a special emphasis on outdoor adventure so there are more adventure activities including backpacking, caving, rock climbing and whitewater rafting.  The setting is more set apart and rustic.  Lutherock has 20 counselors and 5 senior staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES – Summer staff are trained as counselors with some having special emphasis on outdoor adventure or working with special need campers.  Counselors are assigned to a cabin of campers each week.  Counselors live with the cabin group during the week, becoming friend, parent and spiritual leader, and lead all adventure activities.  Counselors are assigned to a different age group with a different team each week.  Staff  receive a weekly salary along with lodging and meals.  It is possible to save a reasonable amount of money because there are no costs and limited time to spend one’s earnings.

VALUE – Besides giving children and youth the best week of their summer, counselors grow in leadership skills, experience Christian community, grow in faith and have a blast.  It can be a transformational experience in a person’s life.

HOW TO APPLY – The following link will take you to a site that shares more information about the summer staff experience at Lutheridge Camp or Camp Lutherock, including an application, reference forms and summer staff policies.   http://www.llmi.net/about/summer-staff.aspx
